Celebrating Hispanic Heritage: A Month Full of Unity and Fun!

At Acción Performance, we believe in celebrating diversity and fostering a sense of belonging within our organization. As we entered Hispanic Heritage Month this year, we were eager to embrace the rich traditions, vibrant cultures, and strong sense of community that Hispanic heritage embodies. From volunteer service to fun activities, here’s a glimpse of how we celebrated this special month.

Week 1 (September 15th): Company Volunteer Day

We kicked off the month with a company-wide day of service at various nonprofit locations near Acción Performance and each of our Morales Group Staffing branches. Our teammates worked together to serve Shepherd Community Center, Food Finders Food Bank, Catholic Charities of Louisville, and Love Chapel Center. We helped with building shelves, landscaping, cleaning, painting, assembling a fire pit, picking up trash, packaging food for a food pantry, organizing donated items, and more! It was an incredible day of teamwork and giving back to the community, setting the tone for the entire month.

Week 2 (September 18th – 22nd): Loteria Fun

We introduced the Hispanic game of Loteria to Acción and each of our Morales Group Staffing branches. Similar to BINGO, each branch had Loteria cards to play throughout the week, with winners receiving special treats. This activity allowed our teams to have fun while learning about Hispanic culture.

Week 3 (September 25th – 29th): Piñata Festivity

Piñatas have always symbolized the triumph of good over evil and the sharing of blessings and happiness with others. During this week, we encouraged everyone to channel their inner child and take a swing at breaking open a piñata. Laughter and cheers filled the workplace as we celebrated the joy and togetherness that Hispanic heritage embodies.

Week 4 (October 2nd – 6th): “Country Heritage Week”

This week, we celebrated the rich diversity within the Hispanic community by encouraging our teammates to embrace their own heritage. We celebrated “Country Heritage Week” with activities such as wearing country colors, decorating branches with Paper Picado, and creating “Heritage Flags.”

Week 5 (October 9th – 13th): Closing Celebrations

To close out Hispanic Heritage Month, we held a branch pitch-in on October 11th. Teammates were encouraged to share their favorite recipes with their colleagues, and these recipes were compiled into a Morales Group Cook Book, preserving the flavors of Hispanic culture for our team to enjoy.

But the celebrations didn’t stop within our walls. We’re also proud to share some incredible initiatives outside our company that we’ve been a part of.

Community Involvement & Impact

Indiana Latino Institute (ILI)

As we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month at Acción Performance, we were not only focused on internal festivities but also on our commitment to supporting organizations that tirelessly advocate for and empower Hispanic communities. Among these remarkable organizations, the Indiana Latino Institute (ILI) stands out, and we couldn’t be prouder of our association with them. ILI presented its annual lighting ceremony in downtown Indianapolis, and the outreach was nothing short of incredible. Multiple generations of Latinos came out in enthusiastic support, dancing and celebrating in the heart of downtown Indianapolis.

Our CEO, Seth Morales, humbly serves as the Board Chair for the ILI Leadership Circle with Sue Ellspermann moderating the Leadership Circle. His dedication and leadership are instrumental in furthering the ILI’s mission and impact, which reflects his servant’s heart and passion for bettering our underserved communities. Earlier in the month, Seth represented Acción Performance + Morales Group Staffing with the ILI leadership team in Washington D.C., meeting with legislators and national organizations dedicated to advancing Latino leadership!  Special thanks to Bart Peterson who came along to lead this trip to DC and previously moderated the leadership circle last year.

About ILI

Established in 2001, the Indiana Latino Institute believes that local organizations are best equipped to understand the specific needs of the communities they serve. ILI’s mission is to advance Latino educational attainment and workforce preparedness statewide through advocacy, leadership development, and culturally responsive programming. Their work aligns perfectly with our mission to build better futures, one story at a time.

Indy Chamber’s Conexión Celebration

We also sponsored the Indy Chamber’s Conexión Celebration, the final event of their Conexión Series. This event allowed us to honor Hispanic Heritage Month by celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of the Hispanic business community. We joined in the festivities that featured a flamenco dancer and highlighted Hispanic business members, providing opportunities to network and connect with individuals who can help businesses grow.

As we reflect on our celebrations, we are reminded that our differences make us stronger, our traditions enrich our experiences, and our sense of community empowers us to achieve greatness. We are proud to have celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month and look forward to many more cultural celebrations in the future. Acción Performance is committed to fostering diversity, unity, and the spirit of community not just during this month, but throughout the year.

Telemundo Indy Viva Show

Our very own Karla Reyes who represented Acción Performance + Morales Group Staffing on the Viva Show on Telemundo Indy. This segment offered Morales Group the limelight to share how we work to build better futures for our community members that have a generational impact, and Karla absolutely crushed it!
